Ranchi, April 18: The Jharkhand High Court today directed the state government to ensure security to the petitioner, Anup Singh, along with his lawyer Rajiv Kumar and close relatives who has filed a PIL demanding probe into irregularities in keeping Rs 14 crore cash recovered by the IT sleuths from different locations across the state of a liquor baron Yogendra Tiwary in 2021.

The direction was given after it came to the knowledge of a division headed by Chief Justice Sanjaya Kumar Mishra that the petitioner and those close to him are being threatened of dire consequences by the police and people close to Tiwary after the PIL was filed.

The petitioner through his PIL informed that amount recovered by IT sleuths was deposited in banks of three districts of Jharkhand on 10th day of a month and withdrawn before 25th day of the same month. According to the petitioner, there is no clue of the amount right now and thus the matter needs thorough investigation.

Maintainability of the petition will be decided on April 25.
