Chatra, April 27: A joint team of the police and the excise department tasted big success by unearthing an illegal liquor factory seizing a large consignment of spurious liquor from two villages of the district situated on the border of Bihar-Jharkhand. The seized consignment of liquor cost Rs 10 lakh and the plan of the gang was to get it consumed in Bihar which is a dry state. This action of the police was seen as another major action against the illegal liquor mafia in the last few days.

Sources said this consignment of illegal spurious liquor worth one million was seized from the Hunterganj police station area located on the Bihar-Jharkhand border. On the basis of secret information received by SP Rakesh Ranjan, a joint team of the Police and the Excise department was constituted which was led by Hunterganj Inspector Pramod Pandey.

Pandey said a police team raided two villages including Jabda and Jajlo villages. The team unearthed an illegal spurious liquor factory operating in the houses of Bhim Yadav, Rakesh Yadav, Vriksha Yadav and Vikas Kumar.

40 bottles of 750ml of Imperial Blue Company, 15 bottles of 375ml English spurious liquor, 41 bottles of 375ml country liquor of Tanch Company, 1666 bottles of 375ml of McDowell Company and 960 bottles of 180ml illegal English liquor consignment were seized.

Police also seized empty bottles, stickers and corks of various companies including a vehicle used in smuggling. Liquor smugglers and mafia had hatched a heinous conspiracy to sell spurious liquor in the dry state of Bihar and other markets.

The team that busted this included sub inspector Nitesh Kumar Dubey, Sushil Toppo and excise inspector Nirmal Marandi were part of this raiding team.
