Daltonganj, April 28: Following preying of a cow in the forest of Naina under the Bareysanr range of the Palamu Tiger Reserve (PTR) by an adult leopard, a caution note has been issued to the villagers to avoid going deep into jungles for picking up Mahua fruits as the lurking leopard may cause them harm.
Naina Waterfall is a tourist spot and it draws tourists. Leopard prowls in the evening as well as at night and so a caution note has been sounded.
The jungles of the PTR abound in the Mahua fruits and here the danger of humans coming under attack by wild animals like bears, elephants and leopards etc is high.
The preyed cow belonged to a marginal farmer Arvind Mahto. He is yet to file his compensation petition for the loss of the cow.
Ranger Brinda Pandey said, ” We laid a camera trap and it recorded the image of the leopard. Its pug marks were also discovered. Leopard revisits its kill on the very next day or even after some hours from the time it has so preyed.”
