Imran Khan, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) and a former prime minister of Pakistan, was arrested by Pakistan Rangers on Tuesday outside the Islamabad High Court, according to Dawn.

Confirming his arrest on Twitter, PTI leader Musarrat Cheema said, “They are torturing Imran Khan right now, they are beating Khan sahib. They have done something with Khan sahib.”

Khan has been connected to more than a hundred incidents since losing his position as prime minister in a no-confidence vote in April of the previous year. He thinks that because he made independent foreign policy choices towards Russia, China, and Afghanistan, the US-led plot was directed against him.

PTI Vice President Fawad Chaudhry also took to Twitter and said that the IHC has been “occupied by the Rangers” and lawyers “are being subjected to torture”.

Azhar Mashwani, a different PTI leader, said the Rangers had ‘abducted’ Imran from within the court.

PTI leader Ch Fawad Hussain took to Twitter and said, “Former PM Imran Khan has been abducted from Court premises, scores of lawyers and general people have been tortured, Imran Khan has been whisked away by unknown people to an unknown location, CJ Islamabad High Court has ordered Secy interior and IG police to appear within 15 min in the court”.

According to reports, the Islamabad Police implemented Section 144 in the nation’s capital and ensured that no one was tortured. They also reportedly surrounded the PTI chief’s car.

Imran Khan was apprehended after a number of failed attempts, including a police raid on his Lahore home in Zaman Park that he successfully evaded.
