Hazaribag, May 11: The service revolver of Special Branch personnel posted for the security of Governor CP Radhakrishnan during his BSF camp visit in Meru misfired. In this incident, Balgovind a.k.a Rahul Kumar got injured. He is being treated in the HZB Aarogyam Hospital in Hazaribagh.
The Governor took part in the passing out parade of BSF at Meru. After that, he visited Hutpa Panchayat as per the schedule and distributed the assets there. After the program was over, it was time for the Governor to leave. The officers and personnel of the Special Branch sat in their respective vehicles.
As the Governor’s convoy was about to leave, the incident happened. Three personnel of the Special Branch were sitting in the second escort car. Two were in the back and one in the front seat. Both the personnel sitting behind kept their service revolver on the seat. Meanwhile, firing took place from Pintu Kumar’s hand. Due to this, Balgovind, sitting in the car, was shot in the leg. He was immediately admitted to a private hospital in Hazaribagh, where he is undergoing treatment.
After getting the information, other personnel and officials of the Special Branch also reached the hospital and inquired about the incident. According to the information, the injured Balgovind alias Rahul Kumar is out of danger now.
