Jamshedpur, May 12: Tata Steel Mining Limited (TSML) has been awarded with Excellence in Biodiversity Management at the CII ITC Sustainability Awards 2022 for its exemplary initiatives taken towards conserving biodiversity around the areas of its operations.
Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways presented the coveted award at a glittering ceremony held at New Delhi yesterday.
Rajarshi Palit, Senior General Manager, Tata Steel Mining Limited received the award on behalf of the company.
Community awareness programmes like Prajatiya Khadyotsav, Green Therapy, Jaibakala Vividhata, conservation measures for the local silkworm species Sukinda Ecorace, butterfly garden and medicinal park by TSML earned the praise of the assessors of the award.
Pankaj Satija, Managing Director, Tata Steel Mining Limited said, “We are happy to receive this award which is a recognition of the efforts of our team towards the conservation of biodiversity and sustainable operational practices in TSML. It will go a long way to inspire the team to continue giving our best for the cause. We thank the jury for considering us for this award.”
Conserving and enhancing biodiversity is an integral part of TSML’s corporate strategy and value system and it strives to mainstream biodiversity in all its strategic and operational decisions.
