Ranchi, May 12: The doctors team of Ranchi Sadar Hospital achieved a milestone with performing laparoscopic ventral hernia operation successfully on Friday.
An umbilical hernia patient was operated Intraperitoneal Onlay Mess Plus (IOMP) through laparoscopic in modular OT of sadar hospital during ETO Sterilisation.
Laparoscopic ventral hernia repair is considered an advance surgery which is done only in selected corporate hospitals of state. The doctors said this was first time such an operation through laparoscopic was done in any sadar hospital of state including five medical colleges. It is done only at RIMS Ranchi.
The team comprising surgeon Dr Ajit Kumar, aesthetic Dr Deepak Kumar and Dr Vikash Kumar, sister Savita, Sarita, Poonam, OT assistants Sushil Kumar, Niraj Kumar Mukesh Kumar, Mohit Kumar and Madha Kumar under guidance of civil surgeon (CS) Dr Binod Kumar performed this advance surgery in one and half hours.
“Patient recovers quickly from this IOPM Plus method. We will release him from hospital in two days,” said Dr Ajit Kumar.
Notably, laparoscopic ventral hernia operation will cost a patient around Rs 1.25 lakh in corporate hospitals but at the Sadar hospital, the patient was operated almost free of cost.
