Daltonganj, May 22: A legal empowerment cum awareness camp for socio-legal issues was held at Bareysarn in Latehar district on Sunday.
It was organised by the district legal services authority Latehar in active collaboration with the civil and police administrations of this district.
The battery of judicial officials was led by the principal district and sessions judge Latehar Akhil Kumar whereas the fleet of civil and police officials was headed by Latehar DC Bhore Singh Yadav and SP Anjani Anjan.
The socio-legal issues comprise POCSO, human trafficking, Dayan pratha, cyber crimes, prevention of atrocities against SC /ST, rehabilitation of victims, social security schemes etc.
The camp raised quite strongly the socio-legal issues of human trafficking which plagues this tribal-dominated district of Latehar the most. Families were asked to abort temptations of a bright future for their girls in far-off land which are so well orchestrated by human traffickers.
Next to it were the socio-legal issues of Dayan pratha (read witchcraft) and crime against children. People were told to prefer a doctor and hospital rather than any witch doctor in the event of illness as there is no such thing as a witch Doctor who can cure.
Latehar district is no exception to cyber crimes and here in this camp, this raging issue of cybercrime was explained at length.
Principal district and sessions judge Akhil Kumar handed over ‘grih perwesh samagri in a colour cloth’ to a woman beneficiary who is to start living in her Awas built under the PM Awas Yojna Gramin which not only delighted the woman beneficiary but drew the attention of the DC Latehar Bhore Singh Yadav too.
The SP said, “Road safety and child labour both are sensitive socio-legal issues and here we talked about it.”
The district administration set up stalls of animal husbandry, agriculture, education, civil supplies, social welfare, social security schemes etc.
Assets were also distributed ranging from a pair of cows to bank linkage cheques to tricycles to hearing aids etc.
