IIT ISM Dhanbad: Skill training course for SECL officers concludes

Dhanbad, May 27: The five-day skill training course for the coal sector officers concluded at IIT Indian School of Mines (ISM) Dhanbad today.
The executive development programme (EDP) was organized by the Department of Management Studies (media and branding) IIT ISM for the South Eastern Coalfield Limited (SECL) officers on Finance Management with Application Software.
The participants (executive officers) termed the experience as quite enriching, knowledge enhancing and skill developing.
In the closing session of five-day programme, deputy director, IIT ISM Prof Dheeraj Kumar was the chief guest. He pointed out that such EDPs help the officers to become more proficient in the latest technology and enhance their managerial capacity by sharing knowledge and expanding skill level.

Prof Rajni Singh, dean (media and branding) of IIT ISM lauded the interest shown by the SECL officers in session on ‘Leadership and Motivation Issues in Mining Projects ‘
XLRI Jamshedpur’s Prof Probal Sen also lauded the participants and said he also learnt a lot from the participants during the session.
Prof Sen spoke on the ‘Role of Macroeconomic Policy’ and inherent economic bottlenecks in industrial projects. He also shed light on the banking system in India in the context of challenges and issues in financing of industrial projects.
Prof Rashmi Singh, coordinator of the programme, said altogether 19 sessions were held during the five-day programme .
On the concluding day,  four brainstorming sessions on different topics, including one on Cost Concepts and Working Capital Issues in Industrial Projects  held by  Prof Shashank Bansal,  assistant professor of Department of Management Studies and Industrial Engineering.  Prof Bansal in his second technical session threw lights on sources of Finance and Cost of Capital in Project Management.
Altogether 20 middle and senior level executives of SECL attended the EDP during which 19 technical sessions were organized.
Prof Dheeraj Kumar, deputy director addressed on the ‘Sustainable Development of Mining Project and Star Rating of Mines’. Prof Sandeep Mondal delivered his speech on ‘Application Software in Project Management’.
The event also witnessed the brain storming sessions by Prof Aparna Krishna on Day 4 (May 25) on ‘Social-Cost Benefit Analysis in Mining Projects’ and Prof J K Pattanayak, senior most professor of Department of Management Studies & Industrial Engineering on Strategic Financial Management in Mining Projects on Day 1.
