Dhanbad, June 5: Dhanbad Sadar Hospital touched a milestone on Monday by performing a rare operation of the cystic hygroma of a 60 years old poor woman suffering for the last  20 years.

Dhanbad civil surgeon (CS) Dr Alok Vishwakarma gave this information to media persons that the doctors’ team of Sadar Hospital despite facing all odds successfully performed the operation of the patient today. After the operation she was normal.

“ The success of the operation would definitely instil confidence among poor patients about the health services of Sadar Hospital and its doctors,” said Dr Vishwakarma.

The patient Gauri Devi (60) had been suffering from pain from cystic hygroma for the last  20 years. She did not get any date at the medical college hospital and she had no money to get an operation at a private nursing home in the district.

On the advice of a relative, she reached the Sadar Hospital of the district which has recently started operation facilities for patients.

The team of senior doctors under hospital deputy superintendent Dr Sanjiv Ghosal examined Gauri Devi and resolved to conduct an operation.

This is the second time in three days that the Sadar Hospital has conducted a rare operation. Earlier on Saturday, a team of orthopaedics surgeons Dr Mukesh Kumar and deputy superintendent Dr Sanjiv Ghosal had successfully operated the tumour in the thumb bone of a patient.

The poor patient identified as Sitaram Mahto of Koranga Basti was suffering from a major wound that had been taking the shape of tumor day by day. Since he did not afford to go to a private clinic, he reached Sadar Hospital and got operated free of cost comfortably.
