Ranchi, June 8: The Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) special court sent land scam accused Kolkata-based businessmen Amit Agarwal and Dilip Ghosh to Birsa Munda Central Jail in 14-day judicial custody.

The development took place after the ED produced them before the court with a request for taking them on a five-day remand for interrogation.

The court forwarding them to judicial custody said that a decision on ED’s remand petition will be taken tomorrow.

It is alleged that Amit Agarwal along with IAS Chhavi Ranjan forged documents to grab a costly land in Ranchi under the possession of the Indian Army measuring 4.55 acres.

According to the investigation conducted by South Chota Nagpur Divisional Commissioner Nitin Madan Kulkarni, 4.55 acres of land in Ranchi currently in the possession of the Indian Army but owned by Jayant Karnad were fraudulently sold to one Dilip Ghosh.

The inquiry was ordered in response to a complaint filed in November 2021 by Upendra Kumar, national general secretary of Akhil Bhartiya Anusuchit Jati Mahasabha. Dilip Ghosh, who lives in Kolkata, is the director of Jagatbandhu Tea Estate Private Limited and is said to have a close connection in Jharkhand’s power portal.
