Forest dept to train villagers of parched forest villages for water harvesting

Dhanbad, June 7: The state forest department would train a group of villagers for water harvesting in forest villages and plantation of fruit trees.

A senior officer of the state forest department giving this information said that as per the plan a group of villagers would be formed in each forest village and trained for attaching them to the protection of the forest and promotion of development programmes that have been launched by the department for them.

For implementing the project and associating the villagers with the forest safety plan, the Additional Principal Chief  Forest Conservator ( APCFC) of the state Sanjiv Kumar in this regard visited the Kaimpa area in Chaibasa.

Forest Division on Tuesday and held a programme with members of the Forest Safety Committee. He informed about the schemes to local people.

The official informed the villagers about development projects, the department has launched for their welfare and also suggested focusing on ‘organizing Vriksha Raksha Vandha’ on a large scale.

Being informed by villagers about the water crisis, he directed the officials for associating villagers with ongoing water harvesting projects and advised them to treat the nullah water of the forest which would increase the water level.

He also assured planting fruits and other trees on the land of the non-elephant corridor in the forest. On the occasion, he also administered a pledge to forest villagers for saving the forest.

Regional Chief Forest Conservator  Jamshedpur Ravi Ranjan, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO)  Chaibasa Satyam, Kolhan  DFO Abhishek, Saranda  DFO Anshuman (IAS) and others were present on the occasion.
