Jamshedpur, June 9: Concerned over the rising heat, the Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) has requested the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of East Singhbhum Vijaya Jadhav to extend the summer vacation in Jamshedpur schools by one more week.
The trade outfit drew the attention of the DC towards the scorching heat prevailing in Jamshedpur and urged that the school holidays of the children be extended for one more week.
President of the trade body Vijay Anand Moonka said Jamshedpur has been facing extreme heat due to lack of rain for the last few days and despite this, some schools have reopened while others would resume classes from next week.
” Parents are reluctant to send their children to schools due to the unbearable heat. Students especially kids are vulnerable as they are prone to sunstroke. Therefore, we have requested the Deputy Commissioner to extend the summer vacation in schools. This would help parents too to heave a sigh of relief, ” said Moonka.
Notably, Jamshedpur and its adjoining areas have been experiencing extreme heat with the day’s temperature hovering between 43- 44 degree Celsius for the past couple of days.
Heat wave is also prevailing in Jamshedpur and in the entire Kolhan region.
