Jamshedpur, June 10: Jharkhand is facing one of the worst summers with day’s reading touching around 44 degree Celsius in several districts during the past 24 hours.
Places like Godda, Jamshedpur and Daltonganj experienced extreme heat where the day temperature touched 44 degrees.
According to the forecast, some places including Jamshedpur is likely to witness 45 degree Celsius today, Saturday.
Extreme heat wave conditions prevailed in Jamshedpur, Godda and Giridih on Friday.
Heat wave would continue to prevail in several pockets today, warned weathermen.
Tomorrow too heat wave is likely to prevail in several places. Weathermen said there is a possibility of thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by strong surface wind (speed: 30-40 kmph) at isolated places over north-eastern parts of the state on Sunday.
On Monday heat wave is likely at isolated places over the west, south and adjoining central parts of the state.
Thunderstorm and lightning accompanied by strong surface wind (speed: 30-40 kmph) is also likely to occur at isolated places over north-eastern parts of the state on Monday and Tuesday, stated a forecast issued by IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre.
The discomfort index was also found to be very high at many places across the state.
