Jamshedpur, June 16: Severe heat wave conditions prevailed in the capital Ranchi and its adjoining areas during the past 24- hours where the day temperature touched around 41 degree Celsius, seven notches above normal.
Ranchi’s maximum temperature on Thursday was seven notches above normal which fulfils the criteria of a severe heat wave condition.
Jamshedpur has been already experiencing severe heat wave conditions for more than 72- hours now.
Giridih and Daltonganj also figured among the severe heat wave places where the day temperature was recorded over six notches above normal in the past 24- hours.
Today’s forecast said that the heat wave condition is expected to prevail in several places across the state.
Thunderstorm and lightning accompanied by strong surface wind (speed: 30-40 kmph) is also likely to occur at isolated places over the northeast, southern and central parts of the state later in the evening.
The heat wave alert has been given till June 18, Sunday.
Meanwhile, the trough from east Bihar to northeast Bay of Bengal was today running from east Bihar to northwest Bay of Bengal at 0.9 Km above the mean sea level.
Weathermen said conditions are becoming favourable for further advance of southwest monsoon over some more parts of the south Peninsular and eastern India during June18-21.
