Jamshedpur, June 17: Acting on a tip-off, a team of police officials recovered seven bovines from a minority-dominated pocket under the Parsudih thana area on Saturday.
Though the bovines which include cows and calves were tied with ropes to wooden pegs in front of the houses at Makdampur, the minority pocket in question, no one turned up to claim the ownership of those cattle when the police carried out the enquiry.
The tied cows and calves were languishing under the scorching sun without drinking water.
As nobody came forward to claim the bovines, the police team loaded the cattle in a truck and brought them to the Parsudih thana. Soon after that, the police shifted the rescued cattle to a local Goshala.
OC, Parsudih thana, Ram Kumar Verma said someone from the Makdampur locality had brought the bovines with an ill-intention.
“It appears that the bovines were brought to Makdampur for the purpose of slaughtering which is prohibited here. Though no one did claim the bovines, we will try to find out the culprit responsible for such an illegal act, ” said Verma while talking to the media.
