Heat wave to continue in north-west Jharkhand today; heavy rain likely tomorrow

Jamshedpur, June 20: Heat wave would continue to prevail in north-western parts of the state today, said IMD officials.

According to Meteorological officials, there is also a possibility of thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by strong surface wind (speed: 30-40 kmph) at isolated places over the state today.

IMD also issued a forecast of heavy rainfall at isolated places over north-eastern and south-eastern parts of the state on Wednesday and Thursday (June 21 and 22).

Meanwhile, the south-west monsoon has further advanced into some more parts of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Westcentral and Northwest Bay of Bengal; some parts of Gangetic West Bengal and Jharkhand; some more parts of Bihar and remaining parts of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim.

Conditions are favourable for further advance of southwest monsoon over some more parts of south Peninsular India, some parts of Odisha, some more parts of Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar and East Uttar Pradesh during the next 2-3 days.

There is a  cyclonic circulation hovering over Bihar and adjoining eastern Uttar Pradesh extending up to 0.9 Km above mean sea level.

Statistics of the last 24 hours revealed that Lohardaga recorded the highest rainfall of 73 mm while heat wave prevailed in Jamshedpur and its adjoining areas and a severe heat wave was experienced in Daltonganj.
