Ramgarh, June 27: Keerty Gaurav, a nominated member of the Ramgarh Cantonment Board has written a letter to Defense Minister Rajnath Singh pleading to reconsider the merger plan of the cantonment board with the municipal body.
In his letter, Gaurav has drawn the attention of all the members of the merger committee to some five points to consider.
The Defense Ministry is issuing instructions to merge the cantonment area with the municipal body. “Cantonment should be merged but why. Do the citizens of the cantonment not have good relations with the army or the Cantt board? According to my information, apart from being a densely populated area, the Ramgarh Cantonment area has been operating in coordination with the bravery of two regiments each,” Keerty Gaurav said.
A copy of the letter has been sent to Prime Minister’s Office New Delhi, Director General Defense Estates, New Delhi, Principal Director Defense Estates Lucknow, Defense Estates Officer Jharkhand and Bihar Circle Danapur, Patna, Chief Executive Officer Cantonment Board, Ramgarh.
“There is a need to improve the system. Instead of talking about merger, the Ministry of Defense should seriously consider income and tax. The Ministry of Defense does not see the logic of abolishing the area instead of reforming the Cantonment Act in the cantonment area. British rules are applicable here which should be stopped. As soon as the reign of the country came into the hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the country has moved forward at a fast pace. In such a situation, after concrete steps like demonetisation, GST, it is progressing at the pace.”
“Giving priority to Indians by changing the rules made by the British. It would be right to postpone the announcement of the end of the cantonment area,” she has pointed out.
