MP: New medical colleges to be set up in six districts by state govt

Bhopal, June 28: The government of Madhya Pradesh resolved on Wednesday to establish new medical colleges in six districts: Khargone, Dhar, Bhind, Balaghat, Tikamgarh, and Sidhi.

The decision to do so was made during a cabinet meeting that Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the state’s Chief Minister, presided over in Mantralaya.

Narottam Mishra, the state’s Home Minister, gave media representatives a briefing on the council of ministers’ various decisions following the meeting.

“During the meeting, the cabinet approved the proposal to open new medical colleges in six districts of the state which include, Khargone, Dhar, Bhind, Balaghat, Tikamgarh and Sidhi. The council of ministers also approved the proposal of Rs 1335.20 crore for the construction of 33 new innovative CM Rise schools,” Mishra said.

The cabinet also extended the deadline for district-level staff and officer transfers from June 30 to July 7, he added.

The home minister added that the ministerial council had sanctioned 24000 crores of rupees for electricity subsidies. They also decided for exemption in destitute fee for procurement of summer moong and urad crops on Minimum Support Price (MSP).

The fourth phase of the Chief Minister’s Urban Infrastructure Development Scheme also received approval from the cabinet, which will cost Rs 1700 crore over two years. Phase 2 of the Seep Amber Complex Irrigation Project in Sehore’s Bherunda was sanctioned for Rs 190 crore. The minister noted that 24 villages in the Bherunda tehsil will benefit from the irrigation work that will be done on a 13,457 hectare area.

The home minister also stated that the Revenue Book Circular (RBC) 6(4) amendment, which enhanced the compensation sum paid for damage to banana farms caused by natural disasters, was approved by the council of ministers. In a number of loss categories, the compensation amount was doubled.
