Hazaribag, July 2: Police arrested three people with 4 kg of opium from the Charhi police station area on Sunday. Those arrested were identified as Suleman Soy, Nirmal Soy and Syed Amir Hussain. A total of 4 kg of opium, a car and five mobile phones were recovered from them.
SP Manoj Ratan Chauthe said that a tip-off was received that some people from Mandu in Ramgarh district are coming towards Hazaribag with the purpose of selling some drugs in a car.
After the information, a team was formed led by sub-divisional police officer Anuj Oraon.
The team started vehicle checking after reaching Charhi Valley on NH-33 known as Ranchi-Patna highway. During checking, the team saw the car and signalled it to stop. The driver tried to escape with the vehicle but was surrounded and stopped by armed policemen. On searching the car, the team found opium.
Police officials said they have seized the car and mobile phones from the trio. After medical tests, they were sent to jail. “We will interrogate them as from where they got the supply of drugs”, they added.
