Kabul, July 3: At least 4,000 Afghan refugees have returned to Afghanistan during the past 24 hours at the Zabol crossing point, according to a report published on Monday by Khaama Press citing Iranian border security officials.

Parwiz Qasimzada, a border official for Iran, claimed that these Afghan migrants were arrested for illegal entry and afterwards returned to Afghanistan.

Because of their passport expiration date, some Afghan immigrants were arrested.

Foreign nationals must use legal routes in order to enter, stay and leave Iran, according to Qasimzada. He emphasised that the border guards would take legal action against any foreign nationals caught entering Iran illegally.

Taliban officials at the Refugees and Repatriation Department in Western Nimroz province said around 74,000 Afghan migrants had returned to the nation from Iran over the course of the previous month, according to Khaama Press.

Mawlavi Abdullah Ryaz, the provincial director of Nimroz province’s Refugees and Repatriation said at least 74,360 persons, including 1,106 families and 69,259 individuals, have returned to the country from Iran over the past few weeks, according to a report by Khaama Press citing the Bakhtar news agency.

Nearly 90,000 Afghan refugees were returned to their country through the Dogharun border in the previous year, according to the head of refugees in Iran’s Razavi Khorasan region.

Since the Taliban came to power on August 15, 2021, countless disadvantaged Afghan families have relocated to nearby nations like Pakistan and Iran.

Earlier, Iran’s Deputy Justice Minister, Ali Kazimi, stated that 63% of the country’s refugees are from Afghanistan.

In its most recent report, the International Organisation for Migration noted that 3.6 million Afghans had left their country in the previous two years, with 70% going to Iran, 18% to Pakistan, 11% to Turkey, and 2% to other nations.

The Islamic Regime in Iran has forcibly deported hundreds of Afghans there in recent months, according to Khaama Press.

In recent months, Afghan nationals have returned from Iran, according to many reports from Taliban officials. It is believed that some of these refugees returned to Afghanistan voluntarily, while others were compelled to do so.
