New Delhi, July 17: Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi, thanked Mallikarjun Kharge, the President of the Congress, on Monday for their decision to oppose the Delhi Ordinance.

The ordinance was dubbed “anti-India” by CM Kejriwal, who also stated that it should be “fought tooth and nail.”

“Thank u Kharge ji for standing wid the people of Delhi. This ordinance is anti-India and anti-national and ought to be fought tooth and nail,” Kejriwal shared in a tweet.

In response to the Congress’s decision to reject the Delhi Ordinance, Kharge earlier today stated that ‘no individual is bigger than the country’. He also added that if the Constitution or democracy are ever attacked, we must work together to defend them.

“This is not about just one person. If the democracy and Constitution of the country suffer a blow, it becomes our responsibility to unite and work together to save democracy & Constitution. No individual is bigger than the country…,” Kharge said.

Congress leader Pawan Khera stated that opposing the ordinance has nothing to do with the meeting and added that Congress has always stood up to safeguard the constitutional framework in response to AAP attending the opposition gathering in Bengaluru.

“Opposing Delhi ordinance has nothing to do with Opposition Meeting. Congress has always stood up to protect the constitutional structure and we have always raised our voices against the misuse of Governors and deputy governors by BJP govt. So linking this with Opposition Meeting will be wrong…”, he said.
