Jamshedpur, July 18: Several districts across Jharkhand are expected to receive light to moderate rain today, said a bulletin issued by IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre.
Weathermen also did not rule out the possibility of thundershowers at a few isolated places today.
The monsoon trough at mean sea level was today passing through Bikaner, Sikar, Orai, Sidhi, Ambikapur, Balasore and thence southeastwards to east-central Bay of Bengal extending upto 1.5 Km above the mean sea level.
The low-pressure area over western Jharkhand and adjoining north Chhattisgarh and north interior Odisha was gradually becoming weak.
However, the associated cyclonic circulation now lies over south Jharkhand and its neighbourhood extending up to 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height.
A cyclonic circulation is also likely to form over the northwest Bay of Bengal within the next 24 hours.
Weathermen said after its revival the monsoon activity was normal over the state.
However, the rain deficit still stood at 41 per cent. Jharkhand’s normal rainfall so far is around 359 mm whereas it has actually received only 210 mm of rain, resulting in deficient rainfall.
