Jamshedpur, July 21: Several parts of Jharkhand are expected to experience light to moderate rainfall activity today, said a forecast issued by IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre.
Weathermen ruled out the possibility of heavy rainfall in the state due to a weak monsoon.
IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre predicted light to moderate rain over the state in the next 72 hours.
Meanwhile, the low-pressure area over the northwest Bay of Bengal off the Odisha coast now lies over the Northwest Bay of Bengal and the adjoining Odisha coast.
The associated cyclonic circulation was extending up to 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting southwards with height.
The monsoon trough at mean sea level was today passing through Jaisalmer, Kota, Guna, Damoh, Raipur, centre of the low-pressure area of northwest Bay of Bengal and neighbouring Odisha.
Weathermen said the rain deficit is set for a rise in the absence of a good shower show.
Statistics revealed that against a normal of 391 mm, the state has so far actually received 215 mm resulting in a rain deficit of 45 per cent.
