Dhanbad, July 28: The Dhanbad jail administration on Friday morning got pathological tests of ex-BJP MLA Sanjiv Singh done at a private clinic on the directive of the MP- MLA Court.

Two times ex-Jharia MLA, who is an undertrial accused in his cousin and former deputy mayor Neeraj Singh’s murder case, has been under treatment at Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH) Dhanbad for different ailments.

On Thursday, the MP-MLA court of Akhilesh Kumar rejected the euthanasia plea of Sanjiv Singh and directed the Dhanbad jail administration to get him tested at any private clinic in Dhanbad.

Since SNMMCH lacks advanced pathological test facilities, the Medical Board had recommended him to RIMS Ranchi for the same but Sanjiv Singh and his family members refused to go there expressing apprehension of danger to his life. He sought permission for tests at any private hospital in Dhanbad even at his own cost.

When the jail administration rejected his plea and complications began increasing day by day, Sanjiv Singh on July 25 filed a petition in the court seeking euthanasia rather than living in severe pain in a government hospital without pathological tests and treatment.

Sanjiv Singh, who has been lodged in the Dhanbad jail since April 2017, was admitted to SNMMCH after he fell in the washroom of jail on July 9, 2023.

SNMMCH medicine head of the department Dr UK Ojha said that he has been suffering from different complications which could be identified only by pathological tests.
