Thief steals jewellery worth Rs 15 lakh from retired constable’s house in Hazaribag

Hazaribagh, July 28: Jewellery worth Rs 15 lakh and cash of Rs 10,000 was stolen from the house of a couple, Pratima Devi and her husband Ajay Kumar Gupta, a resident of Bansilal Chowk of Sadar police station area. As soon as the theft was reported,  police reached the spot and scanned the CCTV footage to get clues related to the thieves.

The couple has registered a case in this regard by giving a written application to the Sadar police station. In her complaint, Pratima said,  on Thursday evening at around 6:15 pm, she had left the house for shopping. Meanwhile, her husband had also gone out. After one hour, when Ajay Kumar Gupta returned, he saw his house and wardrobe were open. He found that all the jewellery and money had been stolen.

Police officials said Ajay Kumar Gupta is a retired constable of the Excise Department. In the CCTV footage installed near the house, a thief was seen entering the house at 6:15 pm wearing a red T-shirt and half pant. The couple has urged the police to catch the thief and get the jewellery back.

Officials said they are working on this case and soon the culprits will be nabbed.
