Jamshedpur, July 30: Acting on a tip-off, a police team nabbed four youths for peddling “brown sugar” behind Town Hall under Sidhgora thana area of the steel city today.
While apprehending the drug peddlers, the police recovered 42 small packets of the deadly narcotic substance and Rs 2,600 from their possession.
Those arrested were identified as Aman Kumar, Suraj Yadav, Manish Prasad, and Bijay Lohar, all residents of separate urban slums located under the Sidhgora Thana area.
Revealing about the breakthrough Sidhgora thana OC, Ranjit Kumar said that they had got information that several youths used to gather near a public toilet behind the Town Hall for taking brown sugar.
“On the information, we set up a raiding team on the directive of senior SP, Prabhat Kumar and raided the place. At the sight of the approaching police party, three of the youths managed to escape, but four others were caught. On searching them, the raiding party found 42 packets of brown sugar and Rs 2,600 cash from their possession, ” said Ranjit Kumar while talking to the media.
The OC said those arrested include the drug peddlers who had been running the racket near a public place like Town Hall in the city.
The arrested persons were forwarded to jail after being produced before a judicial magistrate.
