Dhanbad, Aug 6: Bhudeo Tripathi of Ranchi, Rohan Vijay Shandilya of Jamshedpur along with other top-rated players posted an easy win in the first round of the FIDE Rating Chess Championship which started at St Xavier Welfare Centre, Chaibasa today.
On top board, veteran player Bhudeo Tripathi defeated Alok Srivastava while Rohan Shandilya defeated Amit Kumar Singh. On other tables Ananya Singh Chouhan of Uttar Pradesh beat Biswajit Chatterjee of Jharkhand, Rajesh Kumar defeated Anmol Murarka, Anurag Nishad of Jharkhand beat Kishan Kumar of Bihar, Arya Sengupta of West Bengal beat Akshat Negi of Delhi.
In other matches, Adhiraj Mitra got full points against Anwesh Mahanta, Arjit Ghosh of Jharkhand beat Anurag Jaiswal of Bengal.
Organizing secretary Basant Kumar Khandelwal said that a total of 179 players from 12 states are participating in this ‘Chess For Everyone’ FIDE rating championship being organized by the West Singhbhum District Chess Association.
Earlier, All Jharkhand Chess Association (AJCA) vice- president Vijay Kumar Singh, Rungta Steel TMT chief general manager Arvind Kumar and Nitin Prakash inaugurated the championship. On the occasion, the additional collector of West Singhbhum Shruti Rajlaxmi was the chief guest and Shashidra Kumar Baraik was the guest of honour.
Chief guest Shruti Rajlaxmi while addressing said that it is a matter of honour that such type of national championship is being organized in West Singhbhum. She said that it would leave an impact on the standard of chess in junior players.
On the occasion, AJCA secretary Manish Kumar, assistant secretary Dipak Kumar, state champion and income tax officer Pritam Kumar, Arpit Khirwalo, Subrata Chandra Tripathi, Nirmal Chandra Tripathi, Anand Lal Vishwakarma, Hursh Sharma were also present in the inaugural function. Jaya Chandra Tripathi conducted the function.
