Ranchi, Aug. 9: The Jharkhand High Court today directed the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and state government to come up with a proposal to put a check on cyber fraud in the state. The court government gave one month time to prepare the proposal.

The development took place in the division bench headed by chief justice Sanjaya Kumar Mishra, where a PIL demanding proper direction to put a check on cyber fraud was being heard.

A state resident Manoj Kumar Rai had filed the petition saying Deoghar, Jamtada and Sahibganj have become hubs of cyber fraud. He through his petition had explained how frauds sitting in these three districts of the state are siphoning money from people’s accounts and the cyber cell established to detect cyber crime is unable to properly handle the cases.

The court giving direction said once the proposal comes, it will pass an appropriate order in the matter. Earlier the court verbally observed that incidents of cyber fraud are not coming under control and some strong steps are required to be taken to stop the same.

Earlier, RBI filing an affidavit before the court expressed its inability to give any direction to the state government to put a check on cyber fraud.
