Monsoon becomes weak over Jharkhand, light rain likely in next 72 hours

Jamshedpur, Aug 11:  The monsoon activity has become weak over Jharkhand as the trough has shifted towards the north.

Weathermen said the monsoon trough has drifted towards the foothill of the Himalayas and this will restrict rainfall activity over the state for the next 3 to 4 days.

Statistics revealed that Jharkhand was still facing a rainfall deficit of 37 per cent. All 24 districts were still facing deficit rainfall.

Meanwhile, the cyclonic circulation over northeast Bihar was today lying over northeast Uttar Pradesh and adjoining northwest Bihar extending up to 3.1 km above mean sea level.

The monsoon trough at mean sea level was passing through Amritsar, Chandigarh, Najibabad, Gorakhpur, Muzaffarpur, Malda and thence eastwards towards Mizoram.

Light to moderate rain was observed at a few places over the state during the past 24 hours.

Monsoon activity was weak over the state during the past 24 hours.

The highest rainfall recorded was 28.5 mm at Bokaro. The highest maximum temperature of 33°C was recorded at Chaibasa in West Singhbhum.
