Daltonganj, Aug 21: Unidentified people branding themselves as Jharkhand Lal Tiger (JLT) last night set afire the computerized weighing machine unit of DVC at the Tubed Colliery.
There is no loss of life but loss and destruction of property of the DVC at the Tubed Colliery. Coal work at the Tubed Colliery is shut today.
The JLT men thrashed a few of the workers there at the site. Two of the badly thrashed by the JLT men reached the Sadar Hospital Latehar this morning today for treatment.
Latehar SP Anjani Anjan has confirmed the incident saying the police are on the lookout for the JLT men who are nothing but bad and dubious people.
He said the arson was carried out for levy from the Tubed colliery. Such sprouting of outfits like this JLT is nothing new in Latehar. Police have demolished 10 such new groups or outfits in the last two years and this JLT too would be made to lick the dust soon, reiterated Anjani Anjan.
Sources said the DVC had informed the Latehar police about the threat. Police had taken measures too but this incident of arson occurred last night around 1o’ clock.
The SP said the JLT men did not fire in the air. It was the SIS security guards of the DVC and the Latehar police that fired in the air to disintegrate the fleeing JLT men who were quite countable.
