Dhanbad youth gets 20 years’ jail for raping minor

Dhanbad, Sept 6: The Dhanbad POCSO court on Wednesday sentenced 20 years in jail and a penalty of Rs 10,000 to a minor’s rape accused identified as  Md Waris Raen, a resident of Kenduadih in a one-year-old case.

POCSO court special judge Prabhakar Singh while delivering the judgement sentenced five years rigorous jail term and a fine of Rs 2000 to the accused for abduction of the minor girl and 20 years jail term and fine of Rs 10,000  for rape.

On the statement of the victim girl, the Kenduadih police had on January 14, 2022, filed an FIR against Md Waris Raen (27). The victim girl in her complaint alleged that the accused developed a friendship with her and raped her for more than one and a half years promising to get married.

On January 3, 2022, he took away the girl to Jamua of Giridih district and raped her repeatedly. Later, the accused refused to marry her. The family members of the victim girl informed the police about the incident and an FIR was lodged.
