Jamshedpur, Sept 7:  Several districts located in southern and central Jharkhand are expected to experience heavy rain today, according to a forecast issued by IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre.

Weathermen said heavy rain is also expected at isolated places tomorrow due to the impact of a low-pressure formation over the Bay of Bengal.

The low-pressure area over the northwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal off the south Odisha-north Andhra Pradesh coasts is gradually becoming weak.

However, an associated cyclonic circulation was lying over south interior Odisha and its neighbourhood extending up to 7.6 km above mean sea level.

The monsoon trough was today passing through Bikaner, Guna, Mandla, Raipur, Kalingapattanam and thence southeastwards to the west-central Bay of Bengal extending up to 2.1 km above mean sea level.

Monsoon activity was normal over Jharkhand during the past 24 hours. Light to moderate rain was observed at most places over the state.

Met records showed that Jharkhand as a whole was still facing a rain deficit of 37 per cent.

Against a normal of 850 mm of rain, the state has so far received  539 mm of rain.
