Dhanbad, Sept 18: The rescue team of Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) has brought out two bodies after 29 hours of operation while the search is still on for the third and last woman who fell into a crater in Gondudih colliery under Kusunda Area, around 7 km away from here.

An official said the second body identified as Parla Devi was brought today in the afternoon at around 1.30 pm.  Earlier on Sunday evening, the rescue team had brought pieces of body parts of a woman, that was beyond recognition.

Three women of Chotki Bouwa Basti identified as  Parla Devi, Thandi Devi and Mandwa Devi on Sunday afternoon fell in a crater while going on a colliery road.  When they were going, all of a sudden colliery road under their feet caved in. The crater was 7 feet wide and 15 feet deep.

Baghmara  Block Development Officer (BDO) Sunil Kumar Prajapati, under whom the area falls, said that the rescue operation would continue till the third woman is brought out. “If needed, an NDRF team would be called for rescue,” he said.

However,  Basti residents believe there is little chance of survival of the third woman as the two women were found dead and one of them was beyond recognition.

In the wake of prevailing resentment in the region, a large number of the state police and CISF personnel have been deployed on the spot to conduct smooth rescue operations.

Neither BCCL nor outsourcing company officers reached the spot today after two senior officers of BCCL were assaulted by the Basti residents on Sunday.

The irate mob on Sunday also gheraoed Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) Dhanbad Tundi MLA Mathura Prasad Mahto when he reached the spot.
