14 all-India MBBS quota seats go vacant in Jharkhand medical colleges

Dhanbad, Sept 19: Even after the third round of admission which concluded on Monday evening, 14 MBBS seats out of 75 reserved under the all-India quota in the state government-owned five medical colleges of Jharkhand remain vacant.

Director of the medical education wing of the state Health Department Dr SK Singh said that the candidates under the all-India quota would again get an opportunity of admission in Stray Round for which the National Medical Mission (NMC) would announce the date soon.

The third round of admission on all India quota began on September 10 and concluded on September 18.

The highest of four seats each remained vacant in Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College Hospital (MGMMCH) Jamshedpur and Phulo Jhano Medical College Hospital (PJMCH) Dumka.

The lowest of one seat is vacant in Medinirai Medical College Hospital (MMCH) Palamu.

All the five state government owned medical colleges have 100 MBBS seats each approval in which 15% of seats each are reserved under the all-India quota.

Dr KN Singh, MGMMCH Jamshedpur principal, informed that a total of 11 out of 15 students of all India quota took admission after completion of the third round. “Four seats of all India quota are still vacant in the institution,” he said.  A total of five MBBS seats, including one of the state quota, are vacant at MGMMCH.

At PJMCH Dumka also 11 candidates of all India quota took admission till the third round of counselling which concluded at 5 pm on Monday. Principal Dr  AK Choudhary said a total of seven seats out of 100 are vacant including four of all India quota, two of state quota and one of central nominee.

At SNMMCH Dhanbad, three seats of all India quota remain vacant after the third round of admission. “Total 12 candidates took admission. Now remaining three seats would be filled up in the stray round,” said admission in-charge Dr Ganesh Kumar.

A total of 13 students of all India quota took admission at  SBMCH Hazaribagh. Principal Dr SK Singh said that a total of three seats are still vacant. Two of all India quota and one of the state quota is vacant in the institution.

At MMCH Palamu, 14 candidates of all India quota took admission. Admission in-charge Dr Atul Prakash said a total of four seats out of 100 are vacant including one all-India quota, one state quota and two central nominees seats.

The third round of admission under the state quota MBBS seats will begin tomorrow.
