New Delhi, Sept 20: Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Chief Minister of Assam, told reporters on Wednesday that the state government will be introducing a new program to give young people financial support of Rs 2 lakh apiece for their self-employment.
The CM also announced that registration would begin for the ‘Mukhya Mantri Atmanirbhar Asom’ scheme from September 23-24.
On Wednesday, Sarma held a video conference with the Chief Secretary and other top officials from the conference room of Assam House in New Delhi to make this announcement.
The officials stated that before the meeting approved the scheme, it’s specifics were discussed.
“The Chief Minister later told mediapersons that the new scheme would provide financial assistance for Rs 2 lakh each to two lakh youth for making them self-independent,” a statement from the CMO said.
The meeting, which lasted approximately 40 minutes, was attended by Rajya Sabha MP Pabitra Margherita, Additional Chief Secretary for Home and Political Affairs Ravi Kota, and Resident Commissioner MS Manivannan.
