Dhanbad, Sept 28: The body of a Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) employee identified as Bechan Harijan (55) was found in a bush near Bhalgarha New Pit Shimlabahal under the Boragarh OP, around 15 km away from here, in the early morning of Thursday.
A police official said that Bechan Harijan was an explosive currier in New Pits Shimlabahal of BCCL. He lived in the Karmik Nagar Dhanbad-based quarter of the company. On Wednesday evening, he went to Shimlabahal for duty by cycle and his body was found in the morning at around 5 am today.
His family members alleged that money lenders who had been harassing him might have beaten him to death
However, Boragarh OP in-charge Manish Singh, who reached the spot after getting information, said that prima facie it looks a case of a road accident as signs of injury mark and the cycle was found on the spot, but the real reason would be cleared only after postmortem.
Archna Kumari, the daughter of the victim, said that her father had gone on duty by cycle at 7 pm on Wednesday. At 10 pm, she was informed that a bike had hit his father and he was admitted to a hospital. She searched for him at the Central Hospital of BCCL, the medical college hospital and other regional hospitals but did not find him. “In the morning, I was informed about the body,” she said.
Bechan Harijan was a resident of Debaria district of Uttar Pradesh.
