Karachi, Oct 1: One of the most sought members of the Pakistani terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Mufti Qaiser Farooq, was shot and killed by “unknown men” in Karachi, police sources stated on Sunday.
Qaiser Farooq played a pivotal role as one of the original members of LeT and had close ties with Hafiz Saeed, the orchestrator of the 26/11 Mumbai terrorist attack.
Police sources say that 30-year-old Qaiser Farooq was shot on Saturday in a “targeted attack” in the Samanabad area.
Farooq, who sustained gunshot injuries to his back, was transferred to a hospital, where he passed away while undergoing treatment.
CCTV footage believed to show the killing of Farooq, is making rounds on social media; nevertheless, the police have not officially authenticated the video.
