Congress announces 39 candidates for Mizoram Assembly polls

New Delhi, Oct 16: The Congress party announced a list of 39 candidates for the upcoming Mizoram Assembly elections on Monday, and it includes the party’s state unit chief Lalsawta as a candidate in the Aizawl West-III constituency.

The candidate names were revealed on the same day Rahul Gandhi arrived in Aizawl for a two-day visit to campaign for the party’s candidates in preparation for the northeastern state’s assembly elections scheduled for November 7.

The Mizoram Congress Committee head, Lalsawta, has been nominated as a candidate in the Aizawl West-III (ST) constituency, and Lalnunmawia Chuaungo has been chosen to represent the party in the Aizawl North-I (ST) constituency.

Lalrindika Ralte will be running as a candidate in the Hachhek (ST) constituency, Lalhmingthanga Sailo in Dampa (ST), and Lalrinmawia in Aizawl North-II.

The Mizoram assembly, consisting of 40 members, will undergo a one-phase election on November 7, with the vote counting scheduled for December 3.
