Dhanbad, Oct 16: Altogether 173 regular teachers of post graduate departments and 10 constituent colleges will be eligible for voting in the Binod Bihari Mahto Koylanchal University (BBMKU) Teachers’ Association election scheduled to be held next month.

As per the electoral list released by the election committee chief Dr SKL Das (retired principal and registrar of BBMKU), the highest number of voters are in the PK Roy Memorial College Dhanbad and the lowest at Degree College Gomia.

“Coordinator of BBMKUTA  election Dr KM Singh (PG English department) has submitted the voters’ list of PG departments and 10 constituent colleges of the university. Now, a meeting of the seven-member election committee would be convened after the Durga Puja festival to finalize the date of nomination, withdrawal, voting and counting,” said Dr Das.

As per the list, PG departments have  51 voters, followed by PK  Roy Memorial College Dhanbad (18), SSLNT Women’s College (14), Bokaro Steel City College (14), Chas College (14), BSK College Maithon (12),  RS More College Govindpur (12), KB College Bermo (11), Sindri College Sindri (10), RSP College Jharia (9), Katras College (7) and Degree College Gomia (1).

Dr Saritha Srivastava, principal of the Degree College Gomia who has gone on deputation from SSLNT  Women’s College is the lone voter of the institution.

Sources in the outgoing committee of BBMKUTA said that due to the Durga Puja festival and administrative development  (removal of vice-chancellor Dr Sukhdeo Bhoi) in the university, the election may not be possible in November.

Durga Puja vacation starts on October 19  and thereafter Diwali and Chhat Puja will follow.

Election Committee chief  Dr SKL Das said that the committee would try to hold the election as soon as possible but all prevailing situations would have to be considered before finalizing the date.

This is the second election of the BBMKU Teachers Association as the first election was held in 2018. Dr Himanshu Shekhar Choudhary and Dr BN Singh (general secretary of the outgoing committee)  set up a seven-member committee to conduct the election.
