Deoghar, Oct 25: Deviating from tradition, Ravana Dahan was organized at Paljori block in Deoghar district on the occasion of Dussehra. Local BJP MLA Randhir Singh played Lord Ram in the procession taken out on this occasion.

Till now, the priest society never encouraged programmes like Ravana Dahan in respect for Ravana but this time apart from Ravana Dahan, Shobha Yatra was also taken out by the Palajori Hatiya Puja Committee of the Sarath Assembly constituency. The biggest attraction of the Shobha was Sarath MLA Randhir Singh who was seen as Purushottam Ram.

The Shobha Yatra starting from Hatiya Chowk travelled to  Bhara Simar main market and then returned to  Hatiya Maidan where a big effigy of Ravana, the symbol of evil, was burnt. First, the effigy was burnt by an arrow fired by Sarath MLA and then there were huge fireworks. Thousands of people became witnesses of this historic moment.

While the Sarath MLA was seen as Ram, local Nippu Gupta was seen as Laxman, and Om Dev as Hanuman. On the spot, the Sarath MLA called it a historical moment and congratulated everyone on Vijayadashami.
