Arnia, Oct 27: A member of the Border Security Force (BSF) suffered minor injuries in an unprovoked firing by Pakistan Rangers in the Arnia sector of Jammu and Kashmir, as stated by the Border guarding force.

The BSF states that during the intervening night of Thursday and Friday, the Pakistan Rangers engaged in unprovoked shooting in the Arnia area, to which BSF personnel appropriately retaliated.

“Pak Rangers resorted to Mortar shelling which was countered by BSF with appropriate response. Intermittent firing continued till 3 a.m.,” the BSF stated.

“One BSF personnel sustained minor injuries in Pak firing has been provided with medical aid,” added the BSF.

Meanwhile, unprovoked shooting by Pakistan Rangers on BSF forces caused panic in Arnia and other parts of the RS Pura sector of Jammu & Kashmir along the international border between India and Pakistan.

“There was a lot of firing by Pakistan overnight. No person was injured but houses were damaged. This kind of firing from the Pakistani side has been witnessed after almost six years. Our security forces retaliated to the firing,”, stated Dev Raj Chowdhary, Sarpanch of the border village Bulleh Chak in Sai Kalan, Arnia of the RS Pura sector in Jammu.

Additionally, near the border village of Bulleh Chak, locals discovered mortal shells.

“We have found three mortar shells so far after overnight shelling from the Pakistan side. No person has been injured in the incident,” a local said.

The terrified residents hid indoors due to the gunfire.

“A large mortar shell damaged our house around 8 p.m. last night. The kitchen has been damaged. By God’s grace, we were saved. The glasses of the windows have broken,” stated Arnia resident Ekta.
