Chakradharpur, Oct 29: In a minor dispute, a man was brutally beaten and stoned to death in Pongda village, located in the Karaikela Thana region of Banda. The incident occurred late on Saturday night.

It is reported that a dispute arose between Suniya Karua, a resident of Pongda village, and some of his neighbours over a certain matter. Subsequently, a group of individuals collectively assaulted Suniya first with sticks and then fatally stoned him to death.

Due to Laxmi Puja on Saturday, most people were outside the village participating in the puja.

Meanwhile, the information about the incident was reported to the Karaikela Thana late at night. The police conducted a raid and arrested three suspects. Among the apprehended suspects are Golog Karua, Jaura Karua, and Yamuna Karua, all from the Pongda village.

On the other hand, the deceased’s body has been sent to the sub-divisional hospital for a post-mortem examination.
