Dhanbad, Oct 29: Unidentified bike borne criminals shot a trader identified as Dipak Agrawal in Matkuria Road’s posh market area under the jurisdiction of Bank More police station on Saturday night.  A police official said the incident occurred at around 9.30 pm.

The injured Dipak Agrawal was taken away to Kolkata Amri Hospital in critical condition after first aid in Asian Jalan Hospital Bartand. Dipak Agrawal runs a ‘Car Centre’ establishment.

The Dhanbad District Chamber of Commerce has called a bandh of business establishments in the district in protest against the incident and sat on dharna at Randhir Verma Chowk today at 11 am.

A police official said that the incident occurred at around 9.30 pm. A staff of ‘Car Centre’, Mudrika Prasad, Sharma told media persons that they were preparing to shut down the Centre but in the meantime, two bike-borne youth, who had covered their faces, came in impersonating as customers. One of them suddenly fired on Dipak Agrawal from a pistol which crossed piercing his neck and chin.

The staff after informing the police, first admitted him to Joraphatak road based private clinic where doctors sent him to Asian Jalan Hospital.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sanjiv Kumar told media persons that an investigation of the incident is being done. It is tough to say who fired on him but police are taking action, he added.

However,  a henchman named Major of notorious fugitive criminal Prince Khan of Wasseypur has claimed firing on Dipak Agrawal on social media as the trader refused to give extortion.

The staff of Car Centre said that  Dipak Agrawal had received an extortion demand from Prince Khan a few months ago but had been relaxed after police action against the notorious criminal and arrest of his henchmen.

Dhanbad Sadar MLA Raj Sinha and former mayor  Chandrashekhar Agrawal also reached the spot at night and expressed concern over deteriorating law and order in the district.
