Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has extended an invitation to his Telangana counterpart, A Revanth Reddy, proposing a face-to-face meeting on July 6 to discuss various bilateral issues. In his letter dated Monday, Naidu suggested that the meeting take place at Revanth Reddy’s office in Hyderabad.
This proposed meeting between an NDA chief minister and his Congress counterpart has stirred considerable interest in political circles. The agenda is expected to include potential collaborative projects between the two states, as hinted at in Naidu’s letter to the Telangana chief minister.
“I have written to the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Telangana, Sri @revanth_anumula Garu, proposing a meeting to discuss matters of mutual interest between our two Telugu-speaking States. I look forward to working closely with him to resolve post-bifurcation issues, enhance cooperation, and facilitate progress in our states,” Naidu posted on X.
Reflecting on the decade since the bifurcation of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh, Naidu highlighted the ongoing discussions about issues stemming from the Reorganisation Act. These issues, he noted, have significant implications for the welfare and advancement of both states.
Naidu emphasized the importance of close collaboration between the chief ministers of the Telugu-speaking states to ensure sustained progress and prosperity for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. He believes that a face-to-face meeting will provide an opportunity for comprehensive engagement towards achieving mutually beneficial solutions.
Chandrababu Naidu, the leader of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh on June 12, along with his council of ministers. The TDP had contested the Andhra Pradesh assembly elections and the Lok Sabha polls in alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Janasena Party.
The TDP-BJP-Janasena alliance secured a landslide victory in both the assembly and parliamentary elections. In the Andhra Pradesh assembly, the TDP holds 135 seats, while the Janasena Party has 21 and the BJP eight. The opposition YSR Congress Party has 11 seats.
