New Delhi: In a heated address to the Lok Sabha on Monday, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi launched a scathing attack on the BJP-led Central government, accusing it of creating a “Chakravyuh” around India’s youth, farmers, women, and small businesses. Gandhi alleged that six key figures – Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, industrialist Mukesh Ambani, and business magnate Gautam Adani – are at the center of this “Lotus formation.”
Drawing a parallel with the ancient war formation described in the Mahabharata, Gandhi said, “Thousands of years ago in Kurukshetra, six people trapped Abhimanyu in a ‘Chakravyuh’ and killed him. Today, in the 21st century, a new ‘Chakravyuh’ has been formed in the shape of a Lotus. The Prime Minister wears its symbol on his chest. What was done with Abhimanyu is being done with India – the youth, farmers, women, small and medium businesses.”
When interrupted by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Gandhi responded, “If you want, I will omit the names of NSA, Ambani, and Adani, and take just three names.”
Gandhi elaborated on his allegations by identifying three main forces behind the “Chakravyuh”: the concentration of financial power, the influence of institutions and agencies like the CBI, ED, and IT, and the political executive. He argued that these elements have collectively devastated the country.
Lambasting the Central government over the Union Budget, Gandhi claimed its sole aim was to strengthen the framework of monopoly. “I expected that this Budget would help the farmers, the youth, the laborers, and small businesses of this country. But instead, it aims to reinforce monopolistic business practices, political monopoly, and a deep state supported by agencies, leading to attacks on those who generate employment through demonetization, GST, and tax terrorism.”
Gandhi also made a significant promise to the farmers, stating that the INDIA bloc would ensure the passage of a bill guaranteeing Minimum Support Price (MSP) in the House. “We will do what the NDA has not done. We will pass guaranteed legal MSP in this House.”
In a final jab, Gandhi accused the government of betraying the middle class, who had once supported PM Modi. “Before this Budget, the middle class used to support PM Modi. Now, with this Budget, you have stabbed the same middle class in the back and chest.”
Gandhi’s remarks have sparked a significant political discourse, as the opposition continues to challenge the government’s policies and actions in the ongoing parliamentary session.
