Srinagar: A mysterious blast in Sopore town of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday claimed the lives of four individuals, prompting a swift investigation by authorities.
Officials reported that the explosion occurred in the Shair colony of Sopore town in the afternoon. “Four people sustained critical injuries in the blast. They were rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared three of the injured brought dead. The fourth victim, who was being transported to SKIMS hospital in Srinagar, succumbed to his injuries en route,” an official stated.
The victims have been identified as Nazir Ahmad Nadroo, Azam Ashraf Mir, Adil Rashid Bhat, and Abdul Rashid Bhat, all residents of the Sopore area. Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation to determine the exact nature and cause of the explosion.
Sopore town, once a hotbed of separatist violence in the Kashmir Valley during the insurgency, had enjoyed a peaceful period free from terrorist violence over the past four years. The town was also known as the political stronghold of the late Syed Ali Geelani, a hardline separatist leader.
The sudden explosion has shocked the local community, disrupting the calm that had prevailed in the region. Authorities are working to uncover the details of the incident and ensure the safety and security of the area.
