Ranchi: In a united show of outrage against the brutal rape and murder of a female resident doctor in Kolkata, doctors from Ranchi’s private hospitals staged a joint protest on Saturday. The protest was part of a nationwide 24-hour strike called by the Indian Medical Association (IMA), in which doctors from across the country are participating.
In Ranchi, members of the Junior Doctors Association (JDA), RIMS, IMA, Jharkhand State Health Association (JHASA), Resident Doctors Association (RDA), Central Institute of Psychiatry (CIP), and Association of Healthcare Providers India (AHPI) marched from the RIMS campus to the IMA building, where they expressed their anger and demanded justice.
The protest comes amid ongoing strikes and demonstrations by doctors at Jharkhand’s largest government hospital, RIMS. The doctors emphasized that such a heinous crime should never happen again. “We are here in large numbers to ensure that no other daughter of this nation falls victim to such brutality,” said one of the protesting doctors. They urged the authorities to arrest the culprits and demanded the death penalty for those responsible.
Female doctors working at RIMS spoke to the media, expressing their deep sorrow and frustration over the incident. “We are heartbroken. A young doctor who dedicated her life to serving others has met such a tragic fate. This incident has shaken us all. The government must act swiftly and ensure that the perpetrators are given the death penalty,” one of the doctors stated.
The protest in Ranchi reflects the widespread anger and demand for justice across the country, as medical professionals unite to stand against the crime and call for severe punishment for the guilty.
