New Delhi: Three terrorists were reportedly killed in two separate encounters with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district. The operations were initiated by a joint team of the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police in response to suspected terrorist movements in the region.
According to officials, the joint operation was launched on the night of August 28-29 in the Machhal area of Kupwara, following intelligence inputs about potential infiltration attempts. Despite adverse weather conditions, security forces observed suspicious activity and engaged the infiltrators, leading to the likely neutralization of two terrorists, as confirmed by the Chinar Corps of the Indian Army in Srinagar.
In a separate operation, another terrorist is believed to have been killed during an anti-infiltration mission in the Tangdhar sector of Kupwara. This encounter began yesterday evening when troops intercepted an infiltration attempt, resulting in a fierce exchange of fire.
Meanwhile, security forces have also launched an operation in the Lathi area of Rajouri district after receiving intelligence about the presence of terrorists in the vicinity.
At the time of the last reports, all three operations were ongoing, with security forces continuing their efforts to eliminate the remaining threats in the region.
