Mumbai: The mother of Akshay Shinde, the accused in the Badlapur sexual assault case, has alleged that her son’s death was part of a pre-planned conspiracy. Shinde, who was killed in a police encounter on Monday evening, was accused of sexually assaulting two nursery school girls. His mother, however, has cast serious doubts on the circumstances leading to his fatal shooting.
In an interview, she shared details of her last meeting with him at Taloja jail, just hours before the shooting. “I had been waiting since morning and finally got to speak with him for about 15 minutes in the afternoon,” she told the media. “He said that when I visited him last Monday, he had been beaten by the police.”
Claims of a Pre-Planned Conspiracy
Shinde’s mother further alleged, “This is pre-planned. It appears to have been carried out at the behest of some political leaders,” as quoted by Hindustan Times. Speaking to AajTak, she and her family declared that they would not accept Akshay’s body until a proper investigation is conducted and those responsible for his death are punished.
“Akshay Shinde’s murder was a planned conspiracy. The police have killed my child,” she claimed. The family also demanded that the school management be probed along with the police. “We will not accept Akshay’s body until there is an investigation,” she added.
Family Questions Police Version
Shinde’s mother and uncle, speaking to reporters outside the hospital, expressed doubts about the official police version of events. They asserted that Akshay was not capable of snatching a policeman’s gun, as he was “afraid of bursting crackers and crossing the road.” They questioned how he could have shot at the police, as reported by PTI. Akshay’s father, Anna Shinde, also demanded an inquiry into his son’s killing.
Details of the Shooting
According to the police, Akshay Shinde was being transported from Taloja jail to Badlapur for further investigation. During the journey, when the police vehicle reached the Mumbra bypass, Shinde allegedly snatched a policeman’s gun and opened fire at an assistant police inspector. In response, the police shot back, fatally wounding him. He was rushed to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
The incident has stirred public controversy, with the family calling for justice and a thorough investigation into the death.
